Series Preview: Diamondbacks at Petco

April 18th, 2007 · No Comments

Padres are back home for two against Arizona before heading to Colorado. A day off would be nice at some point. Let’s see what the Diamondback blogs are talking about:

AZSnakepit: Bob Melvin is an idiot, or so they say. Case in point: opposing pitcher walks Byrnes on 4 straight pitches, then throws ball one to the next batter. What’s the logical call at this point? Well if you’re Bob Melvin it’s time to Hit and Run! Of course the next pitch was out of the strike zone, the hitter can’t make contact and Byrnes is dead at second. If it’s any consolation to Diamondback fans, you won’t have to worry about getting thrown out at second against the Padres.

Tonight’s game features Brandon Webb against David Wells. Look for Bud Black to give Wells a long leash tonight if he gets in trouble. The Padre bullpen is worn down after yesterday’s 14 inning grinder in Chicago.
