Friar Watch

Since Ring made his Padre debut tonight I thought we could take a look at what he’s throwing.

Blue = Release Point
Orange = Fastballs
Green = Curveballs

You can see why he’s had trouble with the base on balls, he has about a 5 foot spread from side to side. I would guess that’s the same thing that makes it hard for lefties to hit him. The strikeout pitch to Schneider was a breaking ball at least a foot off the plate and I don’t think it’s at all unusual for Ring to strike out lefties with that pitch.
