Clay Hensley: A bit of a rough start in the first inning, he gave up a couple of hits and a run but did a great job of getting out of a jam to limit the damage. Unfortunately Clay appeared to injure his groin on a pitch to the first batter of the third inning and had to leave the game. It didn’t look good, I would expect him to miss at least his next start.

Doug Brocail: 2 shutout innings in emergency relief from Brocail. He even got to take an at bat. It’s hard to think of things to say about this bullpen when they routinely get guys out like this.

Heath Bell:1 IP, 0 H, 0 BB, 1 K. The banality of domination.

Cla Meredith: Same old Cla in the 6th but he got roughed up in the 7th, 3 doubles led to 2 runs and an early exit for Clam.

Scott Linebrink: Liney came in to clean up Cla’s mess and worked through the 8th without incident. He gave up a single but got the next two hitters to ground out to end the inning.

Royce Ring: The Padres tacked on some late runs so no Trevor Time tonight. Instead we get another look at Royce Ring, the slurvey lefthander. Ring had to get 4 outs tonight, Kory Casto struck out for strike three but it was a wild pitch and Casto took 1st. I have a feeling Ring sees a lot of those with that big sweeping curve he throws.
