Friar Watch

Chris Young: CY bounced back nicely from a shakey outing with a strong 6.3 IP performance. I thought Bud Black did a good job in removing Young with two on and two out in the 7th when Ichiro came to the plate. Rather than let Ichiro take another hack at a guy he had seen 3 times in the game he brought in Heath Bell, a completely different look.

Heath Bell: Bell got Ichiro on a grounder to end the threat and cruised through the 8th.

Doug Brocail: More garbage time for Brocail but he once again pitched well. We need more of these games where the offense takes the pressure off the pitchers.
